SIX FEET UNDER Prepare To Record New Album

January 15, 2003

SIX FEET UNDER frontman Chris Barnes (ex-CANNIBAL CORPSE) has posted the following message via the group's official web site:

"Hey all you sick fucks!!!! Just wanted to say what's up and let you all know what's been goin' on with SIX FEET UNDER. First off, the X-Mass festivals that we've just completed in Europe a couple of weeks ago… The shows were a major success from beginning to end. Last show in Tilburg [Holland], [we had] approximately 3,000 SFU fans [at the gig] — Wow!! We had an awesome time, and I'd like to personally thank all the fans for comin' out to the shows and sticking around for 8 hours to see SFU. You're all a bunch of brutal motherfuckers!!! I'd like to thank all the opening bands for making it a lot of fun. Most of all, I'd like to thank Johan and Jenny at Metallysee [Productions] for bringing us over and for single-handedly keeping the underground metal scene alive in Europe for the past 12 years. Thanks so much!!! We have also just confirmed 2 major festivals in Europe for summer 2003, Graspop in Belgium and With Full Force in Germany. More European dates surrounding the festival dates will be added soon. We will also be filming the With Full Force show for an upcoming live DVD due to the killer response we've had with 'Double Dead'! More on that later.

"Everyone's been writing and asking me about the re-issue of 'Double Dead' called 'Double Dead Redux' which will be released at the end of January. Just want to let everyone know — the reissue has the same DVD as 'Double Dead', but includes a different audio CD — 'Live In San Francisco', a full-on show — 17 songs. Also, the packaging is different than 'Double Dead' — different band photos and artwork. I worked on the art for this one!! It's a limited-edition release — only 20000 will be printed for U.S.A. release only — enjoy!!

"OK — now with all that said... SIX FEET UNDER is currently beginning to write our next CD. We've got some great ideas for this next release and are really gonna concentrate on making this the best CD we've put out — for real! Other than that, I don't wanna give too much away — you'll have to wait for the final product!! Recording is slated for March 2003. We'll be heading into Morrisound [studios] here in Tampa [Florida] — goin' back to our roots! — to begin tracking the drums and guitar. Vocals will be tracked in Miami as well as the mix. Right now, we're going over our options as far as producers. Metal Blade [Records] is looking at a summer release date for the CD. We'll let you know more as we get things movin'... That's it for now. Take care and remember... Burn on ... not out!!"
